TALES OF TREES

Tales of trees is one of the three winning projects of the Prototyping Lab in Bangkok “Live the City: Urban Media Project”, organised by Bangkok Art Culture Centre, Public Art Lab (Berlin) and the Goethe-Institut Thailand, that took place in December 2015.

This project perceives the city as a living organisation and the trees as translators of the city’s rhythm. The whole concept is based on public interaction.

Hidden sensors that can either detect motion, sound or touch, are placed camouflaged close or on the tree in order to collect data. Those data have to do with the way people walk, talk and in general interact with the city.
Through false brunches and leaves that are attached to the tree those data are being transformed into lighting effects.
